Duration Tubes

Length and endurance of exhalation are key components of speech, as they allow us to vocalize continuously or verbalize on a single exhale. This is an important focus when working on improving oral airflow with the activities described in "OPT for Speech clarity and feeding". Blowpipes encourage the pre-skills needed for the hierarchy of blowpipes, bubble blowing hierarchy and candle blowing. In these activities, the client is gradually required to use increasing strength and endurance of the airflow. Blowpipes provide a visual stimulus to help the client lengthen and better control the exhalation.
